Goalie Development Overview

Goalie Development

Millwoods hockey recognizes the additional costs associated with playing the position of Goaltender and as such will continue to host a no cost, weekly goaltending development camp for the U11 and U13 age categories.

Thanks to generous donations from the MIllwoods Lions Club Millwoods Hockey will again be partnering with Ian Gordon Goaltending for the upcoming season to provide a weekly development camp to continue to improve the hockey development program for Millwoods Hockey goaltenders.

The camp is held every Tuesday night at Southside (George S. Hughes) Arena and features 3-4 coaches from Ian Gordon Goaltending spending an hour on the ice with our goalies. With a goalie to coach ratio of roughly 4-1 each goalie receives individual feedback as they cycle through skating, crease work, and shooting drills as well as some fun and games.

It is a great opportunity for parents to network with other goalie families as well for the kids to get a chance to play and train with other kids that understand the tough position of netminder. Ian Gordon was also gracious enough to allow coaches from our association to join them on the ice which allows our coaches to better understand drills for their own team practices as well as allowing for more hands on the ice to help with drills.

This camp is provided at no charge to the families thanks to MIllwoods Lions Club, which asks for help when their Casino night comes around. If your child attends this camp please strongly consider volunteering your time to allow us to continue to keep this camp free!
