U11-U13 Defenseman Camp
Millwoods Hockey is proud to partner with Competitive Thread to deliver a Summer Defenseman Development Camp for players in the U11-U13, age groups.
This program is designed to strengthen the unique skill set required to excel as a defenseman. Athletes will receive focused instruction that enhances their technical abilities, positional awareness, and decision‑making under pressure. Coaches will also benefit from integrated learning opportunities that support consistent player development throughout the season,
Camp Focus
- Defense‑Specific Skating Mechanics Backward stride efficiency, transitions, pivots, and edge control tailored to defensive movement.
- Gap Control & Angling Techniques to manage space, steer attackers, and maintain strong defensive positioning.
- Defensive Zone Coverage Net‑front play, stick positioning, and understanding defensive responsibilities.
- Breakout Skills Retrievals, scanning habits, deception, and delivering accurate first passes under pressure.
- Blue‑Line Offense Walking the line, creating shooting lanes, puck distribution, and effective point play.
- Battles & Compete Habits Body positioning, corner battles, stick engagement, and winning 1‑on‑1 situations.
- Situational Decision‑Making Reading pressure, anticipating plays, and developing strong hockey IQ from the back end.

Camp Eligibility
- Players must have been registered with Millwoods/SEERA Hockey for the 2025--2026 season.
- New players for the 2026-27 season please contact Kerri - information below.
- Players trying out for club hockey are not eligible.

- Sessions will be held at Meadows and Millwoods Rec Centre
