U13 Program Information for 2025-26 Season
Hello Millwoods Hockey U13 families!
I’m Stephanie Belisle, your U13 director. A little about myself, this is my 8th season with Millwoods hockey, and 4th season on the board. I have spent 7 seasons being the manager for my oldest team. This season I have one child playing U11 in Millwoods and one that has moved onto SEERA. You can recognize me by the clan of kiddos following close behind me.
Jon Sweet is our assistant director. This is Jon’s 2nd year on the Millwoods Hockey board and his 6th season with kids in the association. He grew up in the New Brunswick minor hockey system and currently plays in an Edmonton adult league. He has sons in U13 and U11.
Caitlyn Smith is our second assistant director. This is Caitlyn’s first season with the board and fourth season with the association. She has a son in U13 and a daughter in U9. Her childhood was spent mostly in the Caribbean so her introduction to the hockey family lifestyle has been driven by her children’s passion for the sport. They have enjoyed learning the ins and outs and putting down roots within the Millwoods Hockey community. She has taken active roles supporting teams through fundraising and other hands-on volunteer roles and looks forward to contributing toward the future of our association.
U13 shinny August 18-25, 2025
We have secured semi-organized shinny sessions at a cost of $15 per player per session. Players may sign up for a maximum of 3 sessions (subject to change if space remains).
- Registration is first come, first served.
- Registration Link: August Shinny Ice – Millwoods Hockey
Volunteer Opportunities (August Ice Sessions)
To successfully run August Shinny we need several volunteers per ice time, including:
- Player check-in
- Timekeeper/scoreboard
- Bench helpers (no coaching experience needed)
- On-ice coaches
You can sign up via TeamSnap under each session’s “Assignment” tab. We’re grateful for your help. These sessions can’t run without volunteers!
Evaluations
Millwoods Hockey is pleased to announce our new partnership with Sports Evaluations, a professional third-party evaluation company. More information regarding the evaluation format and dates will be posted on the Millwoods Hockey website in the coming weeks.
We aim to form teams immediately following evaluations. Your child’s first practice could be scheduled the following week, so please plan accordingly. Final groupings and ice times will be communicated after each evaluation round, once data is reviewed and processed.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as our volunteers work hard to deliver timely updates.
Season goals
Some goals we see for U13 this season is more development tailored to each child and team as needed. Also, having a clear direction and goals within each team. We are looking to have a safe and respectful season for all of our coaches, players, refs and parents. And of course for each team and player to grow and love their hockey season. And above all to have fun!
As we get closer to the season, please make sure you sign up for shinny so your child can get their feet moving before evaluations. Evaluations will beginning of September, please ensure your child is available for them.
Families moving from U11 to U13, welcome! Please note when teams are formed, there will be no tier 1 team within Millwoods Hockey U13, we start at Tier 2. This can shock many parents in the beginning. The U13 tier 1 team operates under SEERA, our parent association, with players from Millwoods Hockey and our sibling association North SEERA. See SEERA U13 Tier 1 for more information.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask myself, Jon or Caitlyn. We are here to ensure your child and family have a great hockey season! We look forward to seeing you all at the rink. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Warm regards,
The U13 Director Team:
