U7 Program Information for 2025-26 Season
Hello Millwoods Hockey U7 families,
My name is Patti Brown, and I am excited to introduce myself as the U7 Director for Millwoods Hockey for the 2025–2026 season. I hope you’re all enjoying a wonderful summer so far!
I’ve been involved with Millwoods Hockey for many years, volunteering in various roles including MWH Director, Category Director, and Hockey Director. I also continue to assist with the annual Millwoods Hockey Tournament. Both of my boys played with Millwoods before moving on to other associations, so I truly understand the excitement and importance of these early hockey years.
This season, I’m pleased to welcome Rafaela as our Assistant U7 Director. Rafaela is a proud hockey mom to three boys just beginning their hockey journeys. She’s also a teacher, an experienced sports coach, and a dedicated volunteer. Together, we’re here to support you and your children as they begin their adventure in hockey.
Pre-Skate Information (Senior Group Only)
We will once again be offering pre-skate sessions for the Senior group before finalizing teams. These sessions will help us assess skill levels and create balanced teams to support player development. More details, including dates and times, will be shared soon.
Team Building and Communication
We have received the registration list for all players to date and will begin building Discovery and Junior teams in the coming weeks. Senior teams will be formed after the pre-skate sessions.
We will also be using TeamSnap this season for communication. You’ll receive an invite to join, and this platform will include schedules, team information, and updates about the season.
Coaches and Volunteer Info
We’ve received your coaching and friend requests and will do our best to accommodate them wherever possible. I will be reaching out with a separate email to all the Head Coach or Assistant that have indicated interest for confirmation. Millwoods Administration will then follow up with the next steps required.
If you did not indicate interest in coaching but are open to helping as a Head Coach or Assistant, please reach out—we’re always in need of dedicated volunteers.
All teams will also require parent volunteers in various roles, and your Head Coaches will reach out with those opportunities once teams are formed.
Please ensure the following are completed as soon as possible:
- Coaches must have valid Respect in Sport – Activity Leader certification and a current police check (this is managed by Millwoods Administration). Courses are reimbursed by Millwoods Hockey. (This is separate from Respect in Sport – Parent.)
- If you are interested in being a Head Coach, please complete the Head Coach Application. Check out the Coach Certification Requirements as well.
- All player families must have at least one parent with a valid Respect in Sport – Parent certification.
- Ensure your volunteer cheques have been submitted.
We are looking forward to a fun, inclusive, and rewarding season for all of our players and families.
