U7 Program Information for 2024-25 Season

Hello Hockey Parents,

Welcome to the 2024-25 U7 hockey season. My name is Patti Brown, your U7 Director this season, along with my assistant Jordan Weiss. We hope you all are having a great summer.

I have been involved with Millwoods Hockey for many years volunteering my time in many roles. MHW Director, Category Director and Hockey Director as well as I help annually with the Millwoods Hockey Tournament. I have had two boys that played through the Millwoods Hockey program.

Something new this season will be the introduction of a Pre-Skate for the U7 Sr group which will be held in two sessions. Session 1 and Session 2 will both be held on Monday September 2, 2024.

Further details to follow with information on skate times for each player. We have added this Pre – Skate is to help assist in balancing out the skill level of the players on each team. This will help with furthering development throughout this hockey season. For more information, please read on here.

I have the names and contact information for all players that are registered to date, and I will be building teams over the next few weeks for Discovery and Junior groups. Senior teams will be created after the Pre-Skate on September 2, 2024.

I also have a list of parents interested in coaching, and a list of friend requests. I intend to review all requests and hope to accommodate all requests where possible.

Another added feature with Millwoods Hockey this season is the addition of TeamSnap. You will receive invites to join, and this is where the Pre-Skate sessions and information will be communicated. I suggest you download the TeamSnap app in advance.

Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are always needed, if you have not indicated your desire to coach, but are open to, please let me know. If you can coach or assist in any way, I highly recommend you put your name down. This is also a great way to earn the volunteer hours required for each family.

All parents will have an opportunity to volunteer with their teams in numerous capacities. I will communicate about these opportunities through your head coaches.

For those interested in coaching – I will be reaching out over the next few days. Head Coaches need to submit a Coach application, so if you are interested, you can get a head start on that today.

All player families must have at least one parent with a valid Respect in Sport – Parent certification, and please make sure your volunteer cheques have been submitted. Players will not be added to a team until all requirements are in place.
