Forward Skating Shooting Camp
Millwoods Hockey is happy to continue its partnership with Competitive Thread to deliver a high-performance Forward Skills, Shooting & Skating Camp for the 2026–2027 season.
This specialized development camp is designed to elevate offensive performance through focused instruction in skating mechanics, shooting techniques, and forward-specific game situations.
Camp Overview
This four-session program will concentrate on developing the complete offensive player. Instruction will emphasize proper technique, repetition, and game-transferable skills in a structured and competitive environment.
Forward & Shooting Camp Highlights
Participants will receive focused instruction in:
Skating Development
- Acceleration and first-step quickness
- Edge control and agility for offensive play
- Explosive direction changes
- Speed with and without the puck
Shooting & Scoring Skills
- Proper shooting mechanics (wrist, snap, backhand, quick release)
- Shooting in stride
- One-timers and quick-release situations
- Net-front scoring techniques
- Creating space to generate quality scoring opportunities
Forward-Specific Training
- Offensive zone positioning and awareness
- Puck protection and body positioning
- Small-area scoring competitions
- Decision-making under pressure
- Transition play and offensive attack strategies
This camp is designed to build confidence, increase scoring ability, and enhance overall offensive hockey IQ.
Eligibility
- U11: Birth years 2016–2017
- U13: Birth years 2014–2015
- U15 will be considered mid July if camp does not fill with U11-13 players.
- Players must be registered with Millwoods Hockey for the 2026–2027 season.
- New players for the 2026–2027 season should contact Kerri (details below).
- Players trying out for club hockey are not eligible.
