The Millwoods Tigers faced off against the Cobras in the second half of a home at home series on Sunday morning at Terwillager Rec Center. It was a hard fought defensive struggle, but the Tigers were able to put up a 2-0 score for their second win of the season.
The first period was a close battle with each team managing just 2 shots on goal. Both teams started out cautiously and built momentum throughout the game.
The Tigers jumped out to the lead in the second period on a goal which was originally given to Ewan Manning. After further review the goal was credited to Kyle Jiminez and Ewan was given an assist on the play. The Tigers were solid throughout the second and outshot the Cobras by a 4-1 margin.
Jayden Weisser put the nail in the coffin late in the third period, extending his goal scoring streak to two games. Jayden was named the player of the game.
The Cobras pressed, but were unable to put a goal past Kayden Krawchuk, who recorded his first career shut out. The Tigers defensive game was stellar, holding the Cobras to just 6 shots on goal.
Coach Lee said, “It might have looked like we didn’t play quite as well as we did on Friday night, but I think you have to give the Cobras some credit. They really picked up their game tonight. I am very happy with how our Tigers performed in this one and I can’t wait to see what happens next Sunday!”
